What is Queerly Woven Counselling?

Hi, my name is Cam. I am a queer and trans white settler located in Kjipuktuk (Halifax), Nova Scotia, and am the founder of Queerly Woven Counselling. “Woven” refers to a process of interlacing multiple threads of fabric to create a strong textile. Similarly, we all have threads that make up who we are. These strands could be race, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or religion, and each strand impacts how we navigate and experience the world.

I approach therapy through an intersectional lens, understanding that these threads are interconnected and cannot be fully understood on their own. I am committed to a practice that accepts you as a whole, meeting you where you are in each moment. I come from an anti-oppression, trauma-informed, queer and feminist theory aligned place. I largely implement person-centered work with interventions pulled from parts work and somatic experiences. I am committed to on-going learning to decolonize my practice and providing you with culturally competent care.

I am a Registered Counselling Therapist (Candidate) with the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists, am a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) and have a degree as a Bachelor of Social Work. I have work experience supporting folks experiencing homelessness, substance use, incarceration, food insecurity, sexual exploitation, and intimate partner violence. I am sex-work friendly, 2SLGBTQIA+ affirming, poly-friendly, and while I am allistic, I have experience supporting folks who are neurodivergent.

Please note: the amazing folks at The Wellness Couch have added me to their booking page, so you will be re-directed to their page when booking a session.
